Most Notable Highlights Of The Google IO Conference

Google’s much anticipated IO conference kicked off in San Francisco and it was a treat for the developers because Google has an array of products for the creators. Apart from a glimpse at some of the most anticipated products like Android TV, Auto interface and Moto 360 there was nothing much for the consumers. So, if you missed the 3 hour session then here are the highlights of Google IO conference:

Android TV – It is the new version of their computer operating system specially designed for the big screen. According to the creators it is the extension of your Android platform. This system can be incorporated into set top boxes and video game consoles. The best part is that you can control it using your smartphone and tablet. When you press home it overlays the content, so you can view your favorite show and search for movies, apps, games etc that are arranged according to usage.

Then there is the core search powered by voice. When you take the name of a show, Google will bring in the options to watch the same through different apps. You can also get information about the cast and You Tube videos related to the same show. Similarly you can make abstract searches and Google will provide the answers because it is backed by knowledge graph.

Playing games on the big screen will be really fun with Android TV because you will be able to share your achievements with friends as well. The best thing is the multi-player experience, where one player can play the game using his tablet and the other can compete through the TV. This platform will arrive in fall and according to reports they are teaming up with brands like Sony, Sharp and TV vision to bring it to you.

Android Wear – This was one of the major highlights of Google IO conference where Google announced that they are going the make the operating system easy for the developers to make the android smartwatches. And during the conference they showed a glimpse of the LG G watch and the Samsung gear live which is available for pre-order now, along with the circular Moto 360 that will be released later.

The watches are going to be an extension of your phones and it will only notify the important things like emails, weather updates, calls, texts, and appointments. If you want to dismiss the notification then a single swipe is needed which will wash off the notification from the watch as well as your phone. With the help of Google now you can get directions as well. This platform also has room for fitness trackers that are huge in the market these days.

Google Fit – This is an open platform for developers that will enable them to make apps that are health focused and it is pretty similar to Apples Health Kit. The apps will use sensors from mobile and wearable devices to help you take care of your health in a better way. From heart rate monitors to combining your workout data and food habits there are apps being developed to track your fitness. For this Google has partnered with Nike+, LF, Adidas, Polar and HTC.

Android Auto – This feature is pretty close to Apple’s CarPlay. Android Auto is a distraction free interface that will make your driving experience pleasant. It will bring your phone to your car’s screen without even distracting you. Android Auto will show you Google maps, phone calls etc on your car screen and just like CarPlay it will read the text messages for you.

Android L – No the dessert theme is not gone L is the short form for lollypop and it has got the biggest updates. It’s one of the major highlights of the Google IO conference. The material design will run across phones, tablets, smartwatches, along with chrome Os and web. Now you can view notification without even unlocking the screen.
